![]() No distinguishing characteristics it has nothing new to set it apart from existing and older Kobo models. The infrared touchscreen is a bit more sensitive and accurate than Kobo’s capacitive touchscreens.Despite the lower resolution screen text looks fine and is easily readable, and the advanced font options are a plus because you can make the text bolder and sideload additional fonts. The smaller size makes it more portable than the Aura One, and its battery life is rated at twice as long.If you want to see a list of all the software features check the Kobo Aura One review because the only difference is the OverDrive support for downloading library ebooks directly (the Kobo Aura 2 supports getting free library ebooks too but they have to be sideloaded instead). The software is 95% the same as Kobo’s other ebook readers, including the Kobo Aura One that I just reviewed. I’ve decided not to post the usual long in-depth review of the Kobo Aura Edition 2. Otherwise the specs are identical, minus the microSD card. The one difference is it had an E Ink Pearl screen and the Aura 2 has a Carta screen. It basically has the same exact specs as the “new” Kobo Aura and it was released way back in 2012. In fact it’s a downgrade in more ways than one because it doesn’t have a memory card slot like the original. The new model has neither of those qualities. The thing that set the original apart was the fact that it had a premium design and a flush glass screen. Not only that but the Kobo Aura is a lot more like the original Kobo Glo than it’s like the original Kobo Aura.
